Month of the SSE: The MBM around the world
The Mont-Blanc Meetings association represented all over the world for the internationalization of the Month of Social and Solidarity Economy
This year, the Month of Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) took a first step towards an International Month of the SSE. Created by the network of the 26 Regional Chambers of Social Solidarity Economy in France (CRESS) and the French National Council of CRESS (CNCRES), the CNCRES, for this 7th edition, has associated to The Mont Blanc Meetings (MBM) – International Forum of the Social and Solidarity Economy Entrepreneurs, which aims to increase the visibility and international recognition of this other economy.
Throughout the month of November, the MBM participated in several events all around the world to promote and inspire initiatives supported by the Social and Solidarity Economy:
MONTH OF POPULAR AND SOLIDARITY ECONOMY – Ecuador, 1-30 November
On the occasion of this edition of the Month of Popular and Solidarity Economy in Ecuador, the Mont-Blanc Meetings (MBM) – International Forum of the Social and Solidarity Economy were invited to take part to the seminar on the theme: “The contribution of the popular and solidarity economy in the change of the production system to eradicate poverty”. SOCIAL ECONOMY CONFERENCE – Italia, Rome, 17-18 November
Organized by the Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, in collaboration with the European Commission and with the support of ISFOL, this international summit devoted particular attention to the role of the social economy and gathered around over 190 speakers from 25 European countries. Thierry Jeantet, President of the MBM and Nicole Alix, member of the MBM Board, spoke around a central issue of the conference “Unlocking the potential of the social economy to the growth of European Union”, the event aiming at contributing to define the European framework and policy objectives of the social economy. GLOBAL SOCIAL ECONOMY FORUM – South Korea, Seoul, 17-19 November
This year’s Forum, organized by the city of Seoul, was a showcase for innovative cities and organizations dealing with social problems through an “invigorating social economy” approach. Participants shared their experiences, visions and were able to create new networks of cooperation. Hajime Imamura, member of the Scientific Committee of the International Forum of the Social and Solidarity Economy Entrepreneurs (the Mont-Blanc Meetings) and vice president of CIREC International, spoke along with the OECD LEED, on the occasion of a conference on “The Social Economy and the Role of the International Organizations” presented by UNRISD and UNDP Seoul Policy Center. WORLD FORUM OF HUMAN RIGHTS – Morocco, Marrakech, 27-30 novembre
Under the theme of “Children’s Rights”, the second edition of the Global Forum on Human Rights, organized by the International Federation of Human Rights, brings together more than 5,000 governments and non-governmental actors to discuss issues related to the promotion of human rights in the world such as the right of humanitarian intervention and the protection of privacy and personal data.
Invited by the Moroccan Network of Social and Solidarity Economy (REMESS), Thierry Jeantet, President of the MBM, will speak at the conference dedicated to “The social, solidarity, environmental economy : all rights and duties of human beings”.
The 1st World Forum on Human Rights took place in 2013 in Brazil. This 2d edition will be followed by a third one in Argentina then in Colombia. The main conclusions of these international meetings will be presented at a final conference that will bring together: civil society, representatives of the UN international system for human rights protection, international NGOs.
